• Altamira Cave.

Also known as the Sistine Chapel of cave art. This cave, declared a World Heritage Site, hides marvellous paintings up to 15,000 years old.

The original cave has been closed to the public since 2020, but the Museum of Altamira and the Neocave are open to the public from November to April from 9.30 am to 6 pm and on Sundays and public holidays from 9.30 am to 3 pm. From May to October from Tuesday to Saturday from 9.30am to 8pm and on Sundays and public holidays from 9.30am to 3pm. Closed every Monday, 1 and 6 January; 1 May; 28 June; 24, 25 and 31 December. Entry fee: 3 euros, includes admission to the Neocueva.

• Collegiate Church of Santillana and its cloister

This church of Santa Juliana, located in the heart of Santillana del Mar, is one of the most important Romanesque monuments in Cantabria. Undoubtedly, the collegiate church and its cloister are a must-see in our town.

• Historic centre

Cobbled streets, mountain mansions and many coats of arms will be what you will find inside the town of the three lies. Some of the streets we recommend are: Calle del Cantón and Calle San Juan Infante, although the best thing of all is to wander around the historic quarter and soak up the medieval spirit.

• Sea of Santillana

All the locals here agree that Santillana DOES have a sea. The Santa Justa Beach and the Ubiarco Hermitage are less than 9 kilometres from the centre and are some of the secret places in this town that will leave you wanting to come back.
